Welcome

Welcome to the Prince Edward Island Council of the Arts.

The Prince Edward Island Council of the Arts (PEICA) has provided vital support to the arts on Prince Edward Island since 1974. Dedicated to ensuring that all Prince Edward Islanders enjoy the benefits of a healthy arts community, the PEICA works to foster the development of the arts through advocacy, education, programs and services.

Our mission is to make the arts integral to the lives of all Islanders. We envision Prince Edward Island as alive with the arts, with each community flourishing in celebration of its creativity, its identity and its heritage. We see our Creative Isle as an attractive place to live and raise families, an ideal setting in which to build an artistic practice and career, and a world-class cultural destination. We believe that these possibilities can become reality through the arts.

Newcomers Art Exhibit Call for Submissions

The Prince Edward Island Council of the Arts invites all newcomers to Prince Edward Island to submit their art for consideration for The Newcomers Art Exhibit, a show dedicated to the artwork of immigrant artists who have recently settled on the Island.

The exhibit will be on display during March 2010 at The Gallery @ The Guild, located at the corner of Queen and Richmond Streets. An opening reception for all artists, friends and family is also planned, with the date to be announced.

Eligibility

• Priority will be given to artists who are new Canadians (who have been living in Canada for less than five years). Other applicants will also be considered.

• This invitation is open to emerging and professional artists who work in any media including painting, drawing, video, textiles, sculpture, photography, etc. Please note that this is a curated exhibition at a professional gallery, therefore a certain level of artistic merit will be expected in the pieces chosen for display.
